An ecological corridor is built for animals to cross, yet it remains almost imperceptible at human eye level. To perceive it, one requires the satellite’s gaze, looking down from above. Yet, satellite imagery is itself merely another human order that measures the world through a grid—one fundamentally at odds with the movements of the animals actually passing through. Theirs is a nonlinear sense of navigation, winding along terrain and scent rather than following straight lines.

Orbit of Vortex gives form to this discrepancy. It draws the smooth grid and straight roads inward, coiling them into a center, transforming them into a material terrain that has been stripped of its regulatory functions and linearity. This is not meant as an indictment of human order, but as a way of showing that it is only one gaze among many—and that there remains a place for a nonlinear existence that this order fails to capture.
