Tension & Deformation
Before certainty and meaning solidify, I dwell on the incomplete moments. Matter deforms or shatters under pressure. Yet, that moment is not merely one of destruction. As it is pressed, torn, and bent, the form endures and flows, eventually losing its equilibrium. It exists in a state that has neither fully collapsed nor remained intact. I capture that very moment of indeterminacy.
Rather than providing a final result, I trace where the force has passed and an unresolved tension lingers. These works are a quiet attempt to reveal the duration in which that tension persists. The trace of force is not an end, but a scene where energy and form intersect.
긴장과 변형 (Korean)
확신과 의미가 굳어지기 전, 나는 그 불완전한 순간을 오래 관찰한다.
물질은 힘을 받으면 변형되거나 부서지지만, 그 순간은 단순한 파괴가 아니다.
눌리고, 찢기고, 휘어지는 동안 형태는 버티고 흘러가며 결국 균형을 잃는다.
완전히 무너지지도, 그대로 남지도 않은 상태. 나는 그 불확정의 순간을 붙잡는다.
힘이 지나간 자리에는 아직 풀리지 않은 긴장이 남는다.
이 작업들은 결과를 보여주려는 것이 아니라 그 긴장이 지속되는 시간을 조용히 드러내는 시도다.
변형된 형태는 종결이 아니라 힘과 에너지가 서로 교차하는 장면의 흔적이다.
